How to make a sleeve for a wall hanging.
A quilt hanging sleeve can be permanent or temporary and it can be sewn on after or at the same time you apply binding a hanging sleeve allows a quilt to hang evenly preventing the stretch that nearly always occurs when you secure the project to a wall with a series of pins or other fasteners.
The finished size of my wall hanging is 8 x 15.
The finished sleeve will be less than half of the cut size.
For a larger wall hanging make the sleeve 9 inches long.
Smaller quilts can be hung with purchased clips sewn on tabs or pins applied to the corners.

This new system requires some give in the sleeve on the quilt so the rod can slip over the hanging hook properly.
Adding a hanging sleeve may take a few more minutes but it will be worth it in the long run.
Larger quilts require a hanging sleeve attached to the back to accommodate a wooden dowel or decorative curtain rod.
