Monkey hooks are simple devices that allow you to hang a mirror or other object on drywall easily.
How to hang a large mirror on the wall.
Hold the mirror against the wall at the desired position.
Find a place to hang the mirror.
The part of the cleat that s on the mirror slides over the wall cleat and holds it into place.
Mark the location of the top edge and the center of the frame.
Mark where you want the mirror to hang using a pencil.
In fact installing a monkey hook is so easy you do not even need any tools aside from a tape measure and pencil for proper positioning.
Make sure you have enough space on the wall for the mirror and otherwise decide how you want it positioned relative to other items on the wall and in the room.
Set the mirror down.
Place a scrap piece of wood that is approximately half as long as the mirror is wide underneath the hanging wire on back of the frame.
Hold the mirror against the wall in your desired position and mark the top and bottom corners using a pencil.
D rings and picture wire the mirror must have a frame around it to hang a mirror this way.
This requires attaching d rings to the back perimeter of the mirror frame wrapping wire around the d ring and then attaching one or two hooks to the wall and hanging the mirror by the wire.
Finding a stud can be useful but not necessary if you have a strong enough hanger.
One side of the cleat is screwed into the wall and the other side is screwed into the mirror backing.
