How to fit a roof vent.
Drill a hole upward through the middle of the area you desire and leave the drill bit sticking up through the roof so you can find it from the outside.
Remember to allow for the lip on the vent mechanism that will fit over the opening and rest on the surface of the roof.
Install shingles as normal up to the base of the plumbing vent.
Using the tape measure determine the size of the cut into the roof that will be necessary to insert the vent into the space.
Locate the drill bit.
Mark the outline of the roof cuts that will be needed then use a skill saw to cut the outlined space.
If your roof peak runs parallel to the street put them on the backside where they ll be less prominent.
If you are installing the roof vent in a place where there are ridges and uneven surfaces we recommend a roof vent adapter to make the installation process easier.
You should be able to see the attic interior when done.
Apply a layer of sealant to the edges of the hole then place the vent into position.
Momentarily lift the boot and apply sealant to hold the flashing in place.
Allow space for the edge of the vent opening where it will rest on the roof.
Then cover the bottom of the adaptor with 3m marine sealant and clamp it to the roof until dry.
Record those measurements on a notepad.
Center the vents on the peak of your roof so the sides of the vent lay flat on the roof.
